Linda Hope Stevenson, age 78, passed away on August 26, 2025. She was a resident of Colorado Springs Colorado for 50 years and was a former resident of Fremont, California. Linda was a Supervisor with the Colorado Springs Police and Fire 9-1-1 Emergency Response Center, a career she excelled in.
Linda was born on November 5, 1946, to Harry R. Whoolery and Angeline (Stanley) Whoolery at Fort Hood, Texas. Linda’s father was a career U.S. Army veteran, so Linda traveled the world with the family to various assignments. This gave her a broad education beyond attending one school
On January 27, 1980, Linda married Randy Stevenson at the Wee Kirk of the Heather in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Linda enjoyed fishing on Pikes Peak and squealed with joy each time she landed a rainbow trout. She also enjoyed her flower garden each summer and in recent years shared the planting with great-granddaughter Sage Rayan.
Linda is survived by her loving husband, Randy Stevenson; their daughter, Tonja Rayan; her sister, Gloria Pittman of Lone Tree, Colorado; her brother, Stephen Whoolery (Marilyn) of Austin, Texas; her grandchildren, Jessica Hope Rayan and Randy Cole Ramirez; her great-grandchildren, Sage Lexa Rayan and Declan Walker Ramirez; and many nieces and nephews. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Whoolery and Angeline Whoolery; her sister, Patricia Reister; and her brother, Martin Whoolery.
Linda’s wish is that there be no service, rather she wishes everyone to remember her in life as they knew her.
Randy and family: Brenda and I cannot begin to verbalize the sorrow of Linda’s passing. We know her physical departure leaves an huge void in all of our hearts however, her spirit and love will always be with us to offset that!
Brenda and Jaime-

Beloved sister you will be forever missed by me, our family and friends. We will hold in our memories your smile, generosity and everything that made all our lives easier, funnier, and much more interesting in our discussions of the world. I am very grateful to have had you in my life and more grateful it was as my sister.
Gloria,
Thank you for all of your support through everything. Losing Linda is the hardest thing I have ever had to handle and you have helped me bear it as gracefully as possible.
Randy
I was truly saddened to hear about Linda’s passing. I always thought of her as a counselor to me when I was a rookie. She was always in a good mood and always a fantastic person ! my condolences to The Stevenson family.

Our condolences to Randy, Tonja, and the whole family. Linda was a wonderful person. I remember that we once found her at a restaurant because we recognized her laugh from the other side of the restaurant. She was always such a happy person. And one of her favorite songs, when we worked in dispatch, was Baby’s Got Her Blue Jeans On! Every time she heard it, she started dancing! God bless you all!
Ginnette and Brian,
Thank you for the memories of Linda. She was always the first to start dancing, even though I was never the best dance partner. Her laugh was her trademark!
Randy

Randy and family,
I share your memories of Linda. She was a kind and very funny person that I enjoyed working with. She was one of K9 D’Jaggo’s favorite people as he always had to find her on our visits to the Comm Center.
You are in my prayers,
Mike Sand

Linda,
Thanks for the years together in The Communications Center at CSPD. There was never a better team of First Responders in Colorado Springs than our group. Nor will there ever be. Best memories of my life. Greatful!! Comfort to Randy and your family as only Holy Spirit can give.
Melissa,
Thank you for the your warm wishes to our family and the kind words about Linda.
Randy
Hi Randy, Just wanted to reach out to you and your family at this most difficult time with your loss of Linda. The three of us have a long history of our time on the CSPD. Linda was always the one who you could count on over the years for getting things right for the guys on the street. It was a pleasure to have you both as friends over the years. Linda was also a mentor for my sister, Nana Lee Beers when she came on as a Call taker. They worked together for 14 years and made the radio room fun, as did others. Linda will truly be missed by all of those who knew her and worked with her.
Your Christmas card was the First card received every year without fail.
All the Best my friend, Prayers and thoughts… HO
Paul,
Thank you for all of the warm thoughts about Linda, and the wonderful memories of her as part of the Police Department, she loved what it was during her time there with you and all of our other friends. Such fond memories! Thank you Paul.
Randy
If Linda ever had a bad day, and no doubt there must have been some over the years, she never let it come out over the radio! There is a short paragraph by Vicki Harrison in regards to grief. It is called “Understanding the coming days.”
Grief is like the ocean; it comes on waves ebbing and flowing.
Sometimes the water is calm, sometimes it is overwhelming.
All we can do is learn to swim.
Warren,
Thank you for your memories of Linda, you would make her blush! As i have said to others here, Linda so loved the police department that we all remember, and she would be proud to know that so many friends remember her as a great part of that!
