Lucio Ramos – July 25, 2025

In Loving Memory of Lucio Ramos

December 15, 1937 ~ July 25, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lucio Ramos, 87. He passed away on July 25, 2025, at his home, peacefully, surrounded by family and love. He was born on December 15, 1937, to Prospero and Elvira in Madrid, New Mexico. Lucio was raised in Northern Denver during his childhood and in his early 20’s moved to Chicago for around 20 years. He then later resided in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he would later meet the love of his life.

He is survived by his loving wife, Maria Ramos; his children, Anthony and Sandra; his grandchildren: Evelyn, Antonitta, Demetrio, Michael, Annalysa, Celestina and Gabriella; his great-grandchildren: Ariella, Asher, Alaia, Ava, Zion and Remy; and his siblings, Cipriano and Julia. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elvira; father, Prospero; and siblings: Venses, Cirilo, Manuel, Jesus, Pascual and Jenny.

On September 3,1975, he married the love of his life, Maria Ramos, in Colorado Springs, CO. They created a long-lasting life together and a home for their family to grow up in. Lucio worked very hard for everything he had. He was a chef at Denny’s for 18 years and after that a custodian at Sierra High School for 20 years, retiring at 72 years old.

Lucio was a great, loving man, who loved his family so much. He was a man of faith, strength and love. Throughout the years he lived he enjoyed music and having a good time. His favorite football team was the Chicago Bears. He also enjoyed his Rubix cube and any other puzzle games he could get his hands on. Another thing he loved to do was to relax on the couch, watching the news or scary movies and taking his many naps a day. He had an assigned spot, the family always knew to get up when grandpa came back. Lucio had plenty of snacks he loved; popcorn, watermelon, ice cream sandwiches/cones and a coke were a few of them. He also loved sitting outside in the back, reading the newspaper, enjoying his favorite time of the year which was summer. We will remember him as his healthy and strong self. His little hat, a nice button up with his chain that had a cross and pendant on it. Or a flannel on cold days/nights. We will remember and cherish for life all the memories made.

His spirit lives on in everything he taught us and the love he gave so freely. Lucio leaves behind a legacy that will live on through his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom carry his lessons and love in their hearts. Though we mourn his physical absence, we celebrate the beautiful life he lived and the internal peace he has now found.

A Rosary will be held at 10:30 a.m., and a Mass service at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 5354 US-85, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80911. A reception will be held following the Mass service at St. Dominic Catholic Church, on Thursday, August 21, 2025.

He may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts. Rest in the arms of Jesus, Lucio.  Heaven is so lucky to have you.
