Lyle Darnell LeBere, age 79, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2019. Lyle was a resident of Colorado Springs for 36 years.
Lyle owned and managed The Paint Spot, a local independent paint and sundries business for contractors and retail customers, from 1996 to 2014.
Lyle was born on January 12, 1940 to Fred and Lila (Perry) LeBere in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan Canada. He was a phenomenal and renowned hockey player in his youth in Canada, and was preparing to sign with the Chicago Blackhawks training camp when an industrial accident led to the amputation of his right arm at age 17. He continued playing in West Coast hockey leagues as a premier goalie for several years. He was quoted as saying, “My team’s motto is, ‘We always play short-handed.’”
He is survived by his loving wife, Karen; his children: Lyle Jr., Marc, and Kent; his brothers: Dan (Valerie), Wayne (Connie), Del (Barbara), Lorne (Helen); and his grandchildren: Colin and Peyton. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Mooch.
Lyle was known for his humor, his generosity, his loyalty to his friends and family, and his love of sports and athletics, particularly hockey. His absence leaves a hole in the hearts of many.
Following Lyle’s wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial services.

3 Apr 2019My dad was my hero. I loved him dearly and he will be cherished forever. Whether I did things right or wrong, he always cheered me on, lectured me and then said I love you son. He was a great dad and role model. I viewed him as though he would live forever and losing him really hurt and I have an empty place in heart and my soul. On the lighter side, heaven just got a little better and hopefully my dad is with his loved ones and he can watch over us all now. I could say a million things.. I love you dad and safe travels.

21 Apr 2019Lyle was the most amazing Father-In-Law a girl could ever ask for. Even after Lyle Jr. and I divorced, Lyle Sr. told me “once a LeBere, always a LeBere and that I would always be a part of his family”. Lyle was the funniest and most generous human I have ever met. There will forever be a hole in my heart with him gone. But, heaven gained a very special angel for sure.

the man was a second father to me. Sharing wisdom with me that even now in the year 2023/2024 i still think of him and the kindness he shared with me.
He will be on my Ofrenda for as long as i exist.
I used to work with him for a few years and i em eternally grateful.
