Lynn Charles Daffer, age 78, passed away on August 10, 2021.  He was a resident of Monument, CO for 3 years and was formerly a resident of Hudson, FL.  He was a retired Flight Engineer for the United States Navy and United Parcel Service.

   Lynn was born on January 21, 1943 to William Henry Daffer and Irene Gertrude (Kettering) Daffer in Seattle, WA.  On October 31, 1988 he married Sandra in Louisville, KY.

   Lynn was fond of traveling.  He enjoyed taking his RV with his wife, Sandra, to visit friends and family, and he enjoyed traveling the world with friends, children, and grandchildren.  He also enjoyed wood working and built many toys, puzzles, and Christmas decorations. Lynn had an appreciation for photography.  He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Monument.

   While living in Florida, Lynn was a very active member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the VFW. Lynn loved being a member of the Honor Guard for the VFW and performed Flag Ceremonies for funerals of Veterans on a regular basis. Lynn took great pride in his volunteer service for St. Theresa where he was recognized as one of the Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion which allowed Lynn to bring Communion to people unable to attend services in person. Lynn attended Mt. Rainier High School and graduated in 1961.  He served in the United States Navy for 20 years and flew for UPS after retiring from the Navy.  Lynn enjoyed flying 747s from Anchorage to Asia.

   He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra; Lynn’s children from his first marriage to Andrea: Teresa Coons (Michael), and Kenneth Daffer (Sandra); Sandra’s children from a previous marriage: Elizabeth Boss (Marshall), Timothy Dennehy, and Thomas Dennehy (Trisha); his siblings: Rodney Daffer (Gayle); his grandchildren: Melinda Thompson (Nate), Christopher Boss, Tara Dennehy, Trevor Dennehy (Yukiko), Taten Dennehy, Levi Coons, Ian Coons, and Ava Coons; and his great-grandchild: Ty Dennehy.

   A funeral Mass service will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 55 Jefferson St., Monument, CO.  A reception will be held following the Mass at St. Peter Catholic Church.

   Lynn’s family expresses their thanks to the staff, caregivers and volunteers at Jackson Creek Senior Living, Pikes Peak Hospice, and Gentle Shepherd.  Memorials in Lynn’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org) or Pikes Peak Hospice (pikespeakhospice.org).

    Like Lynn, I fly for UPS, and have enjoyed the same Anchorage to Asia routes as he did. Long days with good friends, just as he did.
