Maria Corazon Eaton, affectionately known to many as “Baby,” passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 2, 2026, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, at the age of 72. She left behind a legacy of selfless love that will live on in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.
Maria was born in 1953 in Manila, Philippines, where her warm spirit and giving heart first took root. She carried a piece of her homeland with her throughout her life—the gentle accent, the deep family values, and an unwavering sense of care for those around her. She spent the later years of her life in Colorado Springs, where she continued to be the loving heart of her family. A devoted and faithful wife of 53 years, Maria built her life around caring for those she loved most.
Maria was a hardworking and selfless woman. After becoming a United States citizen, she proudly worked to support not only her immediate family but also embraced the opportunity to support her family back in the Philippines. Constantly she sent help with the same quiet dedication she showed in every part of her life. She was a hard worker, a faithful wife, and above all, a devoted mother whose love knew no bounds. She was generous, faithful, and always putting others before herself.
She was a caring, loving, and nurturing woman whose strength and kindness were evident to everyone who knew her. Her family meant everything to her. She made sure her loved ones were always taken care of, and she found joy in celebrating them; especially birthdays, when she would make sure each person had a special lunch or dinner at the restaurant of their choice. Her strength was quiet but unbreakable; her kindness, nurturing, and passion for her faith shone through in every interaction. She was the kind of woman who made everyone feel seen and loved, a true matriarch who placed her family first in all things.
Maria shared a remarkable 53-year marriage with her loving husband, Peter Duane Eaton, age 72. Together, they built a home filled with faith, kindness, and priority for family. Her devotion to her family will always be remembered. Her children and husband are proud and grateful to call her their wife and mother. She was a strong woman whose compassion and warmth shaped the lives of those around her.
Maria was a proud and nurturing mother to her children: Sonja Marie Tivis (age 47), Elvis Eaton (age 42), and Rodney Joseph Eaton (age 36). She also cherished her stepson, Rowdy Jason Eaton (age 53), welcoming him fully into her heart. Her greatest joys were her seven beautiful grandchildren—Melody Nicole Eaton (age 28), Corazon Anne Marie Eaton (age 10), Robert Elijah Tivis (age 9), Rueban Emmanuel Tivis (age 7), Isadora Rose Eaton (age 6), Elson Eaton (age 6), and Maya Eaton (age 3)—she also leaves behind her son-in-law Robert Eugene Tivis (age 47), daughters-in-law Danielle Cummings-Eaton (age 44), and Michelle Elizabeth Louise Eaton (age 37), along with many extended family members and loved ones who will deeply miss her.
Maria is preceded in death by her parents, Bienvenida Molleda and Ruperto Molleda, as well as her siblings.
A viewing will be held at The Shrine of Remembrance in Colorado Springs on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Pikes Peak National Cemetery.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
“But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words.”
