Marie A. James

Marie A. James passed away peacefully in her home, March 26, 2013. She was a resident of Colorado Springs since 1972.

Marie was born during 1932 in Trenton, New Jersey to Anthony N. Sarich and Mary (Wasko) Sarich. In 1953, she married Lt. Terrence C. James. Marie was a devoted military wife and mother who traveled all over the world while raising 3 children. Marie possessed a strength that would often be tested during the first part of their marriage, as military life required her to move the family with a moment’s notice to another state or country. Her positive attitude and outlook on life was always a great comfort to Terrence and her children.

Marie was a great cook and always ran the household with love and kindness. She will be deeply missed by her children and friends who knew and loved her. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, as well as various military wives’ clubs. In her earlier married years she loved to do cross-stitch and gave them as gifts to her many friends and family. She also enjoyed playing bridge and mahjongg.

Marie is survived by her son, Steve (Lynda) James; daughters, Lisa Genzer and Linda (Mike) Gawerecki; 4 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Col. Terrence C. James, USAF, Retired; her parents; her brother, Robert Sarich; and her nephew, Robert Sarich, Jr.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 11, 2013, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 6455 Brook Park Drive. Inurnment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Marie’s name may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church, http://stpatscs.org/, or, Komen for the Cure of Breast Cancer, http://www.komensecolorado.org/
