Marlene “Mar” L. Stengle, 77 passed away on April 27th 2015. She was a resident of Colorado Springs for 30 years and formerly resided in Palmdale, California and Berwyn, Illinois. She was a retired Registered Nurse and Hair Stylist.

Marlene was born on September 23rd 1937 to John and Elsie (Hahn) Scheive in Berwyn, Illinois. On February 23rd 1957 she married Warren (Casey) (Al) Stengle in Berwyn, Illinois.

She graduated from Morton High School in 1955 and later attended Morton College where she graduated with an associate degree in nursing in 1978. She began her career in nursing that same year. She later received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Phoenix in 1987.

She loved snow skiing. She actively participated in bowling leagues throughout her life, bowling a 500 series in her 70’s. She also enjoyed horseback riding, bird watching, feeding all of the wildlife that visited her yard, and camping. She greatly enjoyed giving tours to visitors in the beautiful great outdoors of Colorado, and was an avid Chicago Bears fan. She was a member of the Monarch Ski Patrol where she utilized her nursing skills as a member of the team also providing ski passes for her family in the process.

She is survived by her children: Mark, Brian, Chris, and Valarie Stengle; daughters-in-law: Laura, Coralea, and Laura Stengle; sister, Mary Lou Sentesi; brothers-in-law: Herb Sentesi and Bill Elliott; grandchildren: Sheay, Lindsey, Kevin, Dan, Katelyn, Haley, and Reece Stengle; and great-grandchildren: Sarah Albertson and Olivia Stengle.

She was preceded in death by her parents: John and Elsie Scheive; sisters: Mabel Tarvid and Malinda Elliott; and former husband, Warren Stengle.

A celebration of life/memorial service will be held at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard on Saturday, May 9th at 10 am.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Marlene’s name to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region on their website or at any of their regional offices.
