Marsha Delorey

Marsha Delorey, age 54, a resident of the Colorado Springs area since 1981, passed away on June 26, 2013 after a long battle with Multiple System Atrophy. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, and sister, and an avid golfer.

Marsha Mariko Baird was born on July 8, 1958 in Okinawa, Japan. She attended schools around the world and graduated from Harrison High School in 1976. She married Maurice “Reese” Delorey on April 7, 1984 at the United States Air Force Academy Catholic Chapel. Her career included being a claims representative for the Social Security Administration and a homemaker. She was a long time member of the Colorado Springs Country Club and golfed there nearly five times a week. She enjoyed golfing, poker, and her book club.

She is survived by her husband, Reese; her parents, John and Kikuko Baird of Colorado Springs; her son, Chris (and Anna) Delorey of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; her brother, James Baird (wife, Jan Daly) of Austin, Texas; and her sister, Janet Baird of Las Vegas, Nevada. She is also survived by her wonderful grandchildren: Reily and Dakin; and a host of wonderful family and friends who dearly loved her from the Colorado Springs Country Club.

Marsha touched many lives and will be best remembered for her selflessness, her dignity, and her strength. She will also be remembered by her respect and concern for all of those around her. She was dearly loved by everyone she knew. The people she met in passing would often become lifelong friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 1, 2013 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. A Rosary service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial is planned for 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 2318 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs. A reception will follow the Mass at the Colorado Springs Country Club, 3333 Templeton Gap Road. Private inurnment will be held at the Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum, Columbarium of Tranquility.
