A LIFE REMEMBERED
Marvin Earl Jones, 64, passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2025. He was a resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado, for 25 years and was formerly a resident of Detroit, Michigan. He was a Senior Implementation Manager and responsible for Enterprise Customer Onboarding for Comcast Business in Denver, Colorado.
Marvin was born on January 13, 1961, to Ernest and Norma Jean (Watson) Jones in Detroit, Michigan. On July 15, 1989, he married Patricia at Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome, New York.
Marv played a variety of sports throughout his life with a special love for football, basketball and baseball. When not participating on the field or courts, he enjoyed watching the Air Force Falcons, Michigan Wolverines, and Detroit Lions. For his beloved daughter, Olivia, Marvin begrudgingly sported Michigan State Spartan green and white for the past 3 years instead of his signature Maize and Blue. But what brought the most joy to his life was spending time with his family. He graduated from Cass Technical High School in 1979, the United States Air Force Academy Preparatory School in 1980 and United States Air Force Academy in 1984. He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force for over 21 years as an Intel and Communications Officer.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Patty; his son, Byron; and daughter, Olivia; his sister, Sheron (Randy) Walker and brother, Rodney Jones. Marv is fondly remembered by his aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other close family members and many, many dear friends and co-workers. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Ernest and Norma Jean (Watson) Jones; his brother, Ernest Nelson Jones; his twin brother, Marlin and sister-in-law Pam (Nelson) Jones; sister-in-law, Sandra (Turner) Jones; and his nephew, Randy Dwight Walker II.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Shrine of Remembrance (1730 E. Fountain Blvd, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910). A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the United States Air Force Academy Community Chapel (5134 Cathedral Drive, United States Air Force Academy, Colorado 80840). A military interment will be at the United States Air Force Academy Cemetery Memorial Pavilion. A reception will be held following the burial at the United States Air Force Academy Community Chapel Fellowship Room (5134 Cathedral Drive, United States Air Force Academy, Colorado 80840).

When I heard the news of Marvin’s passing, I experienced a feeling of deep sadness and hurt. Marvin and I worked virtually together at Comcast Business. He was a great partner and through collaboration, we always achieved the best result possible. Marvin was an easy-going, respectful person that expressed love for his wife, children, and family. I am grateful for his military service and business partnership while experiencing strong feelings of losing a friend.
We trust in God’s promises of eternal life and the resurrection and find solace in knowing that our loved ones who died in faith are now with the Lord.
My condolences to the family and friends of Marvin. He will be missed by our Comcast Family! He was truly a special and great man!
Marvin was a fantastic person. God fearing man. My condolences to the family and friends of Marvin. He will be missed by our Comcast Family!
Marv was a pleasure to work alongside with. He always brought great energy and compassion to my projects while providing expertise in his work. His calm demeanor was always appreciated by me. He will truly be missed by many at Comcast Business.
Even though I’m all the way here in the Philippines—on the other side of the world—Marv’s kindness and impact still reached me. It’s a testament to the kind of person he was, that his presence and influence could touch lives far beyond his own circle. My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. May his memory continue to inspire and bring comfort to everyone he’s left behind
Marvin was my very first roommate during basic cadet training and I’m eternally indebted to him for helping me survive the crucible of fire our freshman year. Marvin was always positive and I enjoyed seeing him at each of our reunions and other activities at the academy. I was deeply saddened upon learning of his passing and I hope and pray for your family to heal during these extremely difficult times of the loss of Marvin. Marvin was a giant and a wonderful friend. Hugs and kisses from Brent Johnson.
Marvin was a classmate and friend while we were Preppies and during our time at USAFA. He had a very kind heart and gentle spirit. He was always willing to do whatever he could to help us get through the Academy. To this day, my wife (Caroll Rosado Elliott) insists Marvin was the reason she was able to pass her senior Physics class and graduate! It was always a pleasure seeing and talking to Marvin at our class reunions. We were very saddened to hear of his passing. God Bless his soul and may the Lord comfort his family during this difficult time. He will be sorely missed.
Marv was one of the coolest guys on this earth! My sincerest condolences to the entire family, friends and colleagues of Marvin…… he will truly be missed by everyone who was blessed enough to encounter Marvelous!
I was lucky to get to know Marv when I started Comcast around 8yrs ago. We started working together on a project but after that completed our paths crossed every so often in the office. He was always kind, helpful and just a genuine great person. He will be missed and I hope his family feels the love from his coworkers.

Marv was a great guy! What an honor to be able to spend time with him at the Prep School, USAFA and at class reunions. He always had a smile on his face and kind words for everybody he encountered. Simply an amazing human being.
Marvelous Marvin, as we was known throughout our basic training, Freshman and Sophomore years together, always had a gentle smile and a warm greeting for everyone he met. Marvin and all our Prep School friends (due to their experience) helped guide us newbies through our initial years at the Academy and I am eternally grateful for that. Marvin always filled the room with his dynamic presence – I will miss that spirit. My condolences to your family and peace to you my friend.
