Mary Ellen Cameron

Mary Ellen, 90, a former longtime resident of Colorado Springs, died September 21, 2012, in Boulder. She was born October 30, 1921, to Raymond and Helen Colwell who are deceased. She was married to John L. “Jack” Cameron on March 14, 1942, who is also deceased. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Robert Colwell of Monte Vista, her sister Barbara Gray of Loveland, and sister-in-law Harriett Middle.

Jack and Mary Ellen lived in Colorado Springs until 1995. They moved to Boise, Idaho to be closer to their daughter Barb and her family. After Jack died, Mary Ellen moved to Boulder to be closer to her son Bill and his family. She loved her family and friends and her God, was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Supper Club, Bridge Club, Knit Wits, and a volunteer at Penrose Community Hospital. She loved watching sports and was a John Elway Denver Bronco fan, and enjoyed her trips to Cripple Creek, etc..

Mary Ellen is survived by her son Bill Cameron (Lora) of Boulder and her daughter Barb (Walt) Hawkins of Desert Aire, Washington, and many grand, great, and great great grandchildren. Everyone called her Grammy and will remember her smile and kind and gentle spirit. Her caregivers referred to her as the sweetest person they had ever met.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel.
