Mary Ellen Schacherer, a resident of Colorado Springs since the early 1970s, passed away July 14, 2018.
Mary Ellen was born on November 4, 1937 to Blondel Avery Pettit and Agnes Cecilia (McMannis) Pettit in Des Moines, Iowa. She worked as an elementary school teacher in Iowa for a few years, early on.
She is survived by her daughters, Anne Gillis and Suzanne McKinley; and 2 grandchildren: Courtney Gillis and Trentin Gillis.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 20, 2018 at Evergreen Cemetery.
