Mary F. Nichols, age 83, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1964, passed away on Friday, March 23, 2012 at the Pikes Peak Hospice residence. She was a homemaker, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Mary Frances Schexnaydre was born on July 21, 1928 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Amadee and Edmee (Graugnard) Schexnaydre. She was a 1946 graduate of McMain High School in New Orleans. She married Chester T. Nichols in January of 1952 in New Orleans. She was an Air Force wife who was a devoted Catholic. She will be best remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, wit, and her feistiness.

She is survived by her children: Michael (Joycelyn) Nichols of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Mary Ann Gorman (Duane Osterloh) of Colorado Springs; and Patricia Stanton of Parker, Colorado. She has three grandchildren: Thomas Nichols of Baton Rouge; Todd Gorman of Colorado Springs; and Chad (Molly) Gorman of Castle Rock; and two great-grandchildren: Chloie Gorman and Emma Gorman. Mary is also survived by her sisters: Edmee “Sis” Blistine; Lucille Compton; Elsie Danos; and her brothers: Patrick (Betty) Schexnaydre; and Ronald (Madge) Schexnaydre, all of Louisiana.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester in 1980; her brother: Amadee Schexnaydre; and her sister: Marjorie Lummen.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, March 26, 2012 at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. Funeral Services are planned for 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. Entombment will follow at the Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum, Garden of Angels.
