Mary J. Haynes
May 12, 1937 – January 27, 2016
Mary J. Haynes, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1968, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2016. Mary was a loving and devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Mary was born on May 12, 1937 in Hardin, Kentucky to Bernard and Louise Frank.
Mary most loved the Colorado outdoors and times of camping, fishing and family BBQs. She treasured the holidays surrounded by all her loved ones. She also enjoyed reading and countless hours engaged in intense card matches and board games. Mary was a frugal, and wonderful, southern comfort food cook and since she already prepared meals for a small army, she was comfortable to welcome unexpected guests to share the meal. In her younger years she enjoyed gardening, canning and sewing. Most of all Mary cherished her time with her husband, children and especially when surrounded with all her little grands and great-grandchildren!
She is survived by her children: Charles A. Haynes, Thomas E. Haynes, Mary Louise Biksen, Peggy S. Johnson, Cindy L. Haynes, Emily M. Porter, Nancy E. Allen; five sisters; Nancy, Rita, Margaret, Susie and Joyce; five grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Arthur, and also 2 brothers and 1 sister.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Widefield Community Bible Church, 702 Quebec Street, with a reception to follow. Inurnment will be private.
