Maynard L. Neese, age 90, passed away on May 1st, 2021.  He was a resident of the Fountain Valley/Colorado Springs area for 43 years. He formerly was a resident of Marion, Indiana and Scranton, Iowa.  He was an electrician for South Suburban Electric until his retirement in 1992.

Maynard was born on January 21st, 1931 to Guy Leslie Neese and Velda Fern (Gonder) Neese in Boone County Iowa. On December 3rd, 1950 he married Janet Duncan and they subsequently divorced in 1982. In 1984 Maynard met Loretta Beckman and they married on April 29th, 2003 in Colorado Springs, CO.

Maynard graduated from Scranton High School in Scranton, Iowa and attended Taylor University in Upland Indiana. He served in the United States Navy from March 1956 to February of 1959. He was a member of the VFW Post 3917 and American Legion Post 38.

Maynard was fond of flying and in 1982 he obtained his pilot’s license. He subsequently purchased a Piper Cherokee 235 airplane. Maynard and Loretta flew regularly visiting their families across the country. He also enjoyed traveling in their motorhome to Arizona where they would spend the winter.

He is survived by his wife, Loretta; his children: David (Sara) Neese, Lisa (Kent) Baxter, Paul (Jamie) Neese, Claire (Greg) Scherer, stepson: Gary Beckman; stepdaughters: Lisa (Paul) Dekker, Brenda (Brian) Erker; his grandchildren: Chante White, Adam Neese, Lauren Bair, Caitlin Schaffert, Brennan Williams, Seth Scherer, Misty Renner, Donald Renner, Destiny Brown, Nicholas Wilson, Anthony Erker, Lena Erker; and multiple great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Darwin Eugene Neese; and stepdaughters, Diane Henke and Shirley Renner.

Keeping with his desires, no services are planned. Inurnment of his cremated remains are placed in the Garden of Memories Mausoleum at the Shrine of Remembrance in Colorado Springs, CO.

Memorials in Maynard’s name may be made to the Colorado Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association or charity of the donor’s choice.
