Michael Douglas Phelps, age 57, passed away on March 31, 2026. He called Colorado Springs his home but lived all over the United States throughout the years. He built a long career in the construction field, rising to high‑ranking positions thanks to his steady leadership, calm under pressure, and unwavering ability to get the job done right.
Mike was born on November 15, 1968, to James Carl Phelps and Carlene Louise Pramberg in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Mike enjoyed just about anything outdoors, as long as it didn’t involve sand. A big kid at heart, he loved fast cars, guns, concerts, and the company of his lifelong friends who shared those adventures with him. He had a soft spot for dogs, who brought him constant joy throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and by his brother, James Jr.
He is survived by his daughter, Meagan; his granddaughter, Evelyn; and his son‑in‑law, James. He is also survived by his son, Chris, from his first wife, Connie; his former second wife, Wendi; and his siblings, Daniel, Robert, Sandra, and Thomas.
Memorials in Mike’s name may be made to Colorado Bullies & More Rescue at https://www.cbmrescue.org/
He left us too soon, but you can almost hear him saying, “Ah, Jesus… I’ll be right over here raising a little hell.”
