Michael Robert Mulholland, or Mike, as his family and friends knew him, passed away at age 88, on December 4, 2025. He was a 42-year resident of Colorado Springs and was formerly a resident of Playa Del Rey, California, and Mercer Island, Washington.
Mike was born on June 28, 1937, in Los Angeles, California, to William and Myldred Mulholland.
He graduated from High School in San Bernardino, from UCLA in Los Angeles, with an Aerospace Engineering Degree, and then from USC, with a master’s in mathematics, which he used to program satellites in his career.
On July 7, 1968, he married Diana Raye Mulholland, in Los Angeles, California.
His passions were loving his family, helping other men navigate life and marriage, serving in weekly prison ministry, playing and coaching basketball, finding the humor in words and phrases, going camping in the mountains, solving daily crossword puzzles, playing bridge and other card games, and watching football. He also loved listening to and playing classical music, specifically piano; he was a self-taught pianist who learned and played some of the most complex pieces by Mozart and Brahms, and even a few masterpieces by Rachmaninoff.
He was a dedicated husband and father, and a member of Village Seven Presbyterian Church. Mike dedicated himself to serving God, and along with Raye, always welcomed visitors and guests with open arms.
He is survived by his children: Sean (and Larissa) Mulholland, Kelly (and Kate) Mulholland, and Casey (and Brian) James; his grandchildren: Dylan, Vianna, Sophia, Zalie, and Raven; and his precious new great-granddaughter, Naomi.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Diana Raye, just 2 weeks earlier; his brothers, William and Hugh Mulholland; and his parents, William and Myldred.
Celebration of life services for both Mike & Raye will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Village Seven Presbyterian Church, 4040 Nonchalant Circle South, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80917.
Memorials in Mike’s name may be made to Village Seven Presbyterian Church.
