Miriam E. Neidigh Stephens – March 31, 2026

Born October 8,1928 and Died March 31, 2026.  Miriam was born in Decatur, Indiana to Andrew and Alice (Kriegel) Appelman.  Alice died when Miriam was 9 years old.  Bessie Faurote helped raise Miriam and her sisters, Tommie and Pat.  In 1954 Andrew and Bessie married.  Andrea was born in 1960 making the family complete with 4 girls. 

Miriam met Douglas and they married in 1948.  They had 7 children: Jim (Maggie), Jud, Jan, Jeri, Jaye (Gary), Jody (Terry) and Jeff (Patti).  Miriam and Doug moved to Colorado Springs in 1954.   Miriam took several classes in law enforcement in Colorado Springs and worked in Denver in the Child Support enforcement.  Miriam enjoyed hobbies in photography, sewing, quilting, motorcycle riding with a CB handle of Yamaha Grandma, camping and genealogy.  Miriam was a big part of the Robinhood Bar and enjoyed being with her kids and grandchildren.

Miriam is preceded in death by parents Andrew, Alice and Bessie, sisters Tommie Appelman Yost and Patti Appelman Mansfield, sons Jim and Jud, daughters Jan, Jeri and Jody.

Miriam is survived by her sister Andrea, daughter Jaye, son Jeff (Patti), son in law Terry and daughter in law Maggie, 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80910.
