Raymond L. Ewing
July 21, 1925 – March 1, 2012
Ray was born on a farm near Albion, Nebraska to Carl and Anna Ewing and graduated from Albion High School in 1942. Shortly after graduation he entered the military, serving in World War II, where he received a Purple Heart for injuries sustained in Okinawa. After the war he returned to Albion and began farming with his father. He was united in marriage to Ethelyne Schliesser in 1954 and they moved to Lincoln, NE where he enrolled at the University of Nebraska. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1959. After graduation he taught Spanish and French for 1 year in Des Moines, Iowa and then moved to Jefferson County Colorado where he taught Spanish for 15 years at Golden High School. Ray and Ethelyne traveled extensively, eventually retiring in Colorado Springs in 1993.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ethelyne, parents Carl and Anna Ewing, brother Randall Ewing of Tucson, AZ and sister Marion Sanford of Albion, Nebraska.
Relatives of Raymond are brother in law Herb Schliesser and his wife Barbara of Lincoln, NE, and brother in law Wayne Sanford of Broken Bow, NE and the following nieces and nephews: Craig Sanford, Phoenix, AZ; Cindy Kugler, Kearney, NE; Bryan Sanford, O’Neill, NE; Connie Scott, Broken Bow, NE; John Schliesser, LaCanada, CA; Laura Schliesser, Lincoln, NE; Joel Ewing, Tucson, AZ; Doug Ewing, Chandler, AZ; and Shawn Ewing, Saratoga Springs, NY and their families.
Ray and Ethelyne’s final resting place for all eternity will be the Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado.
