Raymond Sadowsky
November 3, 1929 – April 1, 2012
Raymond Sadowsky passed away peacefully on April 1, 2012 after a two year battle with cancer. Raymond was born on November 3, 1929, son of Louis Sadowsky and Mary Jablonsky Sadowsky. He was raised and educated in the New Hradec area and graduated from Model High School in Dickinson, North Dakota.
He married Irene Kostelecky June 9, 1953 in Dickinson, North Dakota and they were residents of Colorado Springs for the past 43 years. Ray enlisted and served in the Air Force for 20 years, retiring in 1971. He then worked for Fillmore Liquors for 23 years.
He was a very devoted husband, married to Irene for 58 years, father and grandfather. His family was the focus of his life and he will be deeply missed. He enjoyed working in his yard, reading, staying current with the news and watching sports. He was an avid Broncos, Nuggets and Rockies fan but was well versed in almost any sports that came on TV.
Ray is survived by his wife: Irene; three children: Jeffrey (Patty) Sadowsky; Doug (Monica) Sadowsky of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Daphne (Bill) Dinnebeil of Castle Pines, Colorado; three grandchildren: Ryan and Audrey Dinnebeil and Megan Sadowsky; his siblings; Bertha Bahley and Georgia (Tom) Huschka; sister in laws: Lillian Sadowsky of Dickinson, North Dakota; and Pauline Sadowsky of Bismarck, North Dakota; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant brothers; brothers: William and Alfred; brother-in-law: Robert Bahley; nephew: Mark Sadowsky; and nieces: Kelly Huschka and Aryls Bahley.
Deep appreciation is extended to all of the health care professionals who supported him through this latest journey.
In celebration of his 82 years of life, services with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. A reception will follow the services at the Olympian Plaza Reception and Event Center, 975 South Union Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery at a later date.
