Robert Richard Horsley, age 24 years, passed away on June 14, 2017.  A resident of Falcon, Colorado since 2013, he had spent the last six months of 2016 working in Minneapolis, MN before returning to Falcon at the beginning of 2017.  Robert was an Information Technology Cybersecurity Specialist and held the Certified Ethical Hacker and Comptia A+ 801 and 802 IT certifications.

Robert was born on September 30, 1992 to Richard Dale Horsley and Shanda (Lewis) Horsley at the active duty Army base at Fort Polk, LA. He instantly became an Army “brat,” a term the military community fondly uses for the children who grow up inside military families.

Robert traveled the country and the world as he grew up.  After getting his start at Fort Polk, he lived in Fort Hood, Texas, Kaiserslautern, Germany, Spokane, Washington, Fort Drum, New York, Syracuse, New York, Peachtree City, Georgia, and Heidelberg, Germany, before arriving in Falcon, CO.

Rob loved basketball and played on youth basketball teams for 4 years.  He became a passionate Gonzaga Bulldogs fan when he lived in Spokane, and he had to make room for the Syracuse Orange when he became a passionate fan after living in Syracuse. No inhibitions were left as he cheered passionately for the Cleveland Cavaliers. He also made room for football and became a master heckler during Denver Broncos football games.  Rob solo’d his first airplane and glider at age 17 as a member of the Civil Air Patrol. Rob loved to camp with his family and with the Boy Scouts, particularly in the Adirondacks and Finger Lakes of New York.  He fell in love with Heidelberg and also Germany and that is where he left his heart.

Robert earned his Associate’s Degree in Computer Science on 30 May, 2013. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Cyber Security on 30 May, 2014.  He earned his Master’s Degree in Cyber Security on 30 May, 2016.  All three degrees were earned through the University of Maryland University College.

Rob is survived by his loving parents, Richard and Shanda, his sister, Shanae (Horsley) Locke, his niece, Shauna Locke, and grandmother, Sharron Bowling.

Memorials in Robert’s name may be made to the Caring Hands of Grace Community Church.

Celebration of life service, 11 a.m. June 24, Grace Community Church, 9475 Grace Church View, Falcon.
