It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, Ruth Deloris (Miller) Linke (nee Forsberg), 93, at Westchester Gardens on Saturday, March 11, 2017. Ruth was born on August 17, 1923 in Chicago, IL to Adolph and Helen Forsberg and had two brothers, Howard and Edward. In 1942, she graduated from Proviso High School in Maywood, IL.
In October of 1946, she married Charles Raymond Miller and they had two daughters, Deloris Elaine and Charlotte Jane. Mom loved to bake cakes and cookies for everyone. She also loved family activities including gardening, canning her fresh produce, and camping throughout the United States. She was a remarkable 4-H, Brownies and Girl Scouts leader. She was very active in the PTA, as a room mother, and in the Markham Lutheran Church.
In 1976, she returned to school and earned her LPN Certificate. She was a very devoted nurse and thoroughly enjoyed her chosen career.
In 1988, she married Frederick Linke and they made their home in beautiful Colorado Springs, CO. She was an active volunteer at the Fountain Valley Seniors’ Center, her church, and the El Pomar Foundation.
Moving to Clearwater, FL in 2011, she enjoyed her final active years at The Hampton at Clearwater, joining in the many activities there as well as attending Bayside Church.
Mom was predeceased by her parents, brothers, husbands, and her devoted grandson, Charles (Chip) Franklin Correll. Survivors include her daughter, Deloris Elaine (Miller) Nelson and son-in-law Dennis Nelson; daughter, Charlotte Jane (Miller) Logay and son-in-law Ralph Logay; grandchildren: John Charles Correll, Elisabeth Erin (Tuohy) VanderMeer (Jeremy), Robert Michael Tuohy, Kathleen Tuohy Rosenberg (Brett); and great grandchild, Jacob Kristopher VanderMeer.
Mom’s love and devotion for her family shone through all that she did. Throughout Mom’s life, she held a deep and enduring faith in Jesus, lovingly sharing it with others. Her life was an inspiration to all who knew her, and she will be greatly missed!
A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held on Tuesday, March 28th, 2017 at 2:00 pm at The Hampton at Clearwater, 1099 N. McMullen Booth Road, Clearwater, FL 33759. Private interment to follow at the Shrine of Remembrance in Colorado Springs, CO.
