
Ruth Dickens of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away on October 28, 2025, at the age of 93. She was the only child born to Pricilla Opal (Hambleton) and William Marley Larrabee on February 18, 1932. Ruth grew up in Belleville, Illinois.
She met Eldon Warren Dickens, Sr., at church. Soon after their marriage in 1949, they committed their lives to serving as ambassadors for Christ. Ruth found joy in teaching God’s message to the youth and women of the Community of Christ Church. She remained a faithful servant through the remainder of her life.
A woman of many talents, Ruth enjoyed knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, ceramics, baking, and playing the piano.
Ruth was an expert seamstress. She often made clothes for her children and grandchildren. Through the years, she was entrusted with making several wedding dresses for family and friends. Ruth was an avid reader and would often visit the local library, checking out multiple books at a time.
She is survived by her loving children: John (Ellen), Cecilia Norvell (Rodney), and Brian (Lori); grandchildren: Matthew Dickens (Sara), Andrew Dickens (Jes), Valerie LaPlant (Carl) and Gwen Norvell; and great-grandchildren: Sam and Ethan Dickens, Luna LaPlant, Zane Campbell and Stella Havel.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Eldon, Sr.; and children, Eldon Jr., Timothy and Pamela Dickens.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30am, on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Community of Christ, 2502 Palmer Park Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO 80909.
