Ruth Joanne Banks – July 18, 2025

Ruth Joanne Banks, 94 years old, passed away on July 18, 2025. She was a resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado for 80 years and was formerly a resident of Gunnison, Colorado. She was a mother and wife.

Ruth was born on November 10, 1930 to Carl Campbell and Lila (Bryant) Campbell. She had ten brothers and sisters, but she was the youngest of the family. Her family eventually moved to Colorado Springs. She attended and graduated from Palmer High School. After graduation, she worked in several jobs in the city and eventually began working as a dietician assistant at Fort Carson. There she met her future husband, Royal Banks, who was stationed at Fort Carson. On March 13, 1951, she married Royal Deskins Banks in Pueblo, Colorado. They were married for 59 years. They had two daughters, Christine and Charlene.

Ruth was a loving, feisty, one of a kind person who will forever hold a very special place in our hearts. She was generous and kind.

She was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and loved speaking to others about the Bible. It was the most important thing to her. She volunteered speaking to others and it brought her great joy.

She was fond of flower arranging and word search puzzles. She liked to travel. She was able to visit many states and go to Canada and Mexico. She liked football. Kansas City Chiefs was her favorite team.

She is survived by her children Charlene Rice and Christine Bunting; her grandchildren Phillip Bunting and his wife Miriam Bunting and Brian Rice and his wife Kasi Rice; great grandchildren Isadora and Linkin Rice; many nieces and nephews, including Ruth Siepman. She is preceded in death by her husband Royal Deskins Banks and her brothers and sisters Arlene Davis, Carl Campbell Jr., William Campbell, Mary Helen Bess, Lawrence Campbell, Margaret Thomas, Richard Campbell, and Betty French.

There will be no memorial service at her request. She wanted her family and friends to remember her the way they saw her last.

We will always remember her as the loving, kind, and generous wife, mother, and daughter that she was. She is dearly missed.
