Ruth M. Huisenga, age 86, passed away on July 1, 2017. She was a resident of Colorado Springs for 63 years, and was formerly a resident of Lake View, Iowa. She was a quality control technician.
She was born on September 25, 1930 to William and Stella (Ammann) Flink in Lake View, Iowa. On February 6, 1948 Ruth married Duane Huisenga.
Ruth was a Ladies Auxiliary member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, VFW post 4051, Eagles and the Elks Lodge. She volunteered her time working bingo every week for MOPH for 53 years.
She is survived by her daughters: Sandra Yowell, Debra Crytser and Dena Huisenga; her brother, Kenneth Flink; her nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane; son, Douglas; and daughter, Sharon; her parents; and three brothers.
A visitation will be held from 5:00pm -7:00pm on Thursday, July 6 at the Shrine of Remembrance. The funeral gathering is at 1:00pm, with the funeral services beginning at 2:00pm on Friday, July 7 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. A reception will be held following the services at the VFW Post 4051, 430 E. Pikes Peak Ave., Colorado Springs, CO 80903. She will be buried at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ruth’s name can be donated to the Ladies Auxiliary Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 423, 2 Carson Circle, Fountain, CO 80817.
