Sherry Walker, age 81, passed away on August 2, 2025. She was a resident of Colorado Springs for 43 years and was formerly a resident of Brisbane and the Outback, Australia. She was an elementary school teacher.
Sherry was born on July 13, 1944, to Wilbert H. Ruenheck and Charlene (Jerome) Ruenheck in Kansas City, Missouri. On December 30, 1972, she married Jeffery John Walker in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Sherry was an avid reader. She also enjoyed spending time with family, and had a knack for sewing. She used to be an expert horsewoman which helped her husband immensely on the ranch. She attended Air Force Academy high school as well as Denver University.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jeff; their children: Justin (wife, Stephanie; daughter, Penelope), Jeremy (wife: Beth; sons, Aiden and Jack), Josh (wife, Amy; daughter, Aisling), and Lara (partner, Matt).
A small graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 18, 2025, at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 Hancock Expressway, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903. A celebration of life, open to all friends and family, will be held the following Saturday, August 23, 2025. Those interested should reach out to family members for further details.
