Susan Warren was born on November 17, 1956, to Lee Birdtail and Martha (Vialpando) Lucero. Susan was born and raised in Colorado Springs, a true native. Susan attended South Junior High School and Palmer High School. After high school Susan worked several jobs around the Colorado Springs area before she began working at Current Incorporated as a pick line employee in 1983. Susan worked several jobs while at Current Incorporated, from the pick line, to material handler, to laser engraver just prior to retiring in 2023.
Susan was fond of quilting and embroidering. She took a lot of pride in having made quilts for her family. She also enjoyed the frequent trips to Cripple Creek and Black Hawk with her best friend and sister, Gloria. Susan always enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Susan would love to sit and just listen to her great grandkids create what most would describe as chaos, however described by her it was beautiful music to her ears. Susan would recharge herself with walks around the neighborhood stopping by to visit her nephew Michael Mascotti and niece Marjay Alexander. As Susan walked around the neighborhood, and through life, she always wore a giant smile on her face and her heart on her sleeve.
Susan is survived by her children: Christopher Warren, LouElla Warren, and Melissa Warren; her siblings, Eddie Birdtail and Melinda Sloan; her grandchildren: Demitrius Warren, DJ Hanes, Malia Warren, Jayden Warren, Baylie Murr, Ryle’ Warren, Ryon Sullivan, Chasten Sullivan, Thomas Sullivan; and her great grandchildren: Dax Warren, Noah Warren, and Magali.
Susan is preceded in death by her mother Martha (Vialpando) Lucero; her father Lee Birdtail; her brothers: Jerry Duran, Nikki Duran, Levi Birdtail; and her sister Gloria Nicholson.
Just as Susan did with everything in life, she took a battle head on with cancer. Susan went into that with her amazing strength, giant smile, and can-do attitude. On May 26, 2025, Susan lost her battle with cancer and joined her creator, parents, brothers, and sister.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday June 4th, 2025 at the Shrine of Remembrance at 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910. Visitation hours will be from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the Shrine of Remembrance. Her final resting place will be at the Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum in the Song of Mary Columbarium.

1 Jun 2025I’m so heartbroken over the loss of my beloved aunt susan. She wasn’t just my aunt. She was my guardian angel here on earth.. her kindness, her laughter, her endless love. It’s hard to put into words just how much she meant to me.. Anti had a way of making everyone feel safe. and loved. She brought light into every room and she gave so much of herself to others without ever asking for anything in return. Her spirit was beautiful, gentle, strong, and full grace, though she no longer with me physically, I know her love and presence will always stay with me. Living without you feels impossible, but I find strength in knowing your beautiful spirit and big beautiful smilewill always be with me. Thank you for being so special part of my life. I love you deeply now and always. I will forever cherish the memories we shared in the love you gave so freely. Anti, thank you for being my angel on earth now you are my guardian angel in heaven I love you so much. Please give hugs and kisses to my mother for me now that you two are together again. Thank you for being such a special part of my life. I love you deeply now and always with all my love Mascotti.
