In Memory of Terry Dovenspike
Terry Dovenspike passed away on July 20, 2025, at Sunny Vista Senior Living Community. Terry was born to Ervin and Zona Dovenspike on November 24, 1945, in Wyoming. Terry married Connie Dovenspike on November 6, 1975, and they built a home in Falcon, Colorado.
Terry worked for the City of Colorado Springs in the gas department for thirty plus years. When he retired, he traveled with Connie in their motorhome to various places that they always wanted to visit and would visit Cripple Creek often to go gambling. He also enjoyed spending time with his family camping, fishing, hunting and four wheeling in his green Jeep.
Terry was preceded in death by his mother, Zona Dovenspike; father, Ervin Dovenspike; and his sisters: Kay Dovenspike, Maxine Scalf, Penny Dyer, Marzella Larimore, and Judy Jacobs. He is survived by his three children: Shelley (Jim) Ettleman, Luke (Beth) Dovenspike, and Jake Dovenspike. Terry was also blessed with five grandchildren: Dustin (Samantha) Abshire, Justin (Kylie) Abshire, Brandon Ettleman, Cheyenne Ettleman, and Hunter Dovenspike; and many great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Terry’s life will be on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910. Friends and family are invited to this event. The family will be participating in a private celebration after the service. At 12:00 p.m. following the service, there will be an inurnment at Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10545 Drennan Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80925.
