Thomas Robert Jennaway, a much loved Daddy, Pa, Husband, friend and Colorado native went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on 31 October 2015. He was 98 ½ years young.

Robert was born to George and Sadie Jennaway on 17 April 1917 in Grover, CO, the day the United States entered World War I. He grew up on the eastern plains of Colorado and graduated from Grover High School. He attended Colorado A&M College (Colorado State University) in Fort Collins, CO and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and was commissioned a 2LT in the United States Army in June 1941. After completing training at Ft Sill, OK he served as a Field Artillery officer with the 27th Infantry Division in the Central Pacific from 10 March 1942-6 May 1945. He was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds incurred in combat on 4 July 1944 on Saipan. He completed active duty service receiving an honorable discharge on 15 Feb 1946. He continued to serve in the US Army Reserves in the Corps of Engineers, retiring as a LT COL.

Following his active US Army service he transferred to the US Air Force as an Electrical Engineer civil servant. He was assigned to FE Warren AFB, Cheyenne, WY from 1945-1962.

While attending graduate school back at his alma mater, he met the love of his life Edith Mae Craghead on 21 June 1948 at a student reception and they danced all night. They were married in Colorado Springs in August 1949 and Edith joined him at their first home in Cheyenne, WY. They moved to Fort Collins, CO and purchased a gentleman’s farm. They raised chickens and enjoyed their time there until they moved to Colorado Springs in 1962. Bob transferred to Ent AFB, Colorado Springs, CO and served there until he retired as a GS 12, Step 9 on 29 June 1973.

He received his registration as Professional Engineer from the State of Colorado on 26 Sept 1970. He was involved with his engineering friends in Colorado Springs and owned his own engineering consulting business. He was active in the Evangelical Presbyterian, Village Seven Presbyterian and Calvary Bible Churches. He enjoyed his Colorado mountains, bowling, polka dancing, computer club, eating and his family and friends.

He was known by many names: Robert, Tom, Bob, TR, Daddy and Pa. Bob is survived by his daughters, Susan Jennaway of Leavenworth, KS and Cynthia (Terry) Huskins of Colorado Springs, CO; 3 grandsons: Phillip, Jacob and Joshua; 9 great grandchildren; and his dear friend Betty June Ates.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters June and Hazel, an infant brother and his beloved wife Edith who passed away in 1990.

Visitation will be from 1-2pm on Friday, 6 November 2015 at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home, 1730 East Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80910. A funeral service with full military honors will follow at 2pm in the “America the Beautiful” Chapel at the funeral home.

A Celebration of Life reception will be held from 4-6pm at MacKenzie Place Senior Living Ballroom, 1605 Elm Creek View, Colorado Springs, CO 80907.

He will be laid to rest next to Edith on 9 Nov 2015 in Caddo, OK.
