Verna Lee Owings was born to Leonard E. Owings and Margaret (Harris) Owings on November 24, 1926, in Rocky Ford, CO. After moving in the mid 1930’s, she lived in Colorado Springs most of the rest of her life. She married David C Huff in Colorado Springs on October 25, 1947.

   She is survived by her daughter Audrey (Huff) Jacobsen of Montrose and son Robert Huff of Golden, grandchildren Johnna, Peter, and Clint Jacobsen and Hilary (Huff) Hernandez, Ian and Adam Huff, great-grandchildren Mary, John and David Hernandez, sister-in-law Billie Owings of Colorado Springs, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years David Huff, her mother, father, brothers Gene and Don Owings, sister Lois (Owings) Caputo and daughter Carol (Huff) Havens.

   Verna graduated from Colorado Springs High School (now Palmer). She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Ruhamada Temple #71, Daughters of the Nile, serving as Queen in 1995-1996, and Zebulon Pike Chapter National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She retired from Joy Manufacturing Co.

   A memorial service will be held at the Shrine of Remembrance in Colorado Springs at 2:00 o’clock PM on August 26, 2021. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Daughters of the Nile or the charity of your choice.
