Virginia M. Welsby, 95, passed away on May 28, 2017. She was a resident of Colorado Springs for 72 years and was formerly a resident of Chicago, Illinois.
Virginia “Ginny” or “Gingo” was born March 19, 1922 to Otto Albert Kricke and Elizabeth (Jagger) Kricke in Chicago, Illinois. She married the love of her life, William “Bill” Welsby June 2, 1945 in Chicago.
Gingo was a true bridge player, enjoyed reading, crocheting, but most of all enjoyed her friends. She was an excellent cook and loved her sweets.
She was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church.
She attended Mayfair School and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1939.
Survived by her son, Timothy K. Welsby; twin sisters: Betty Erdman and Jeanette Anderson; nieces: Terri and Audrey; and numerous nieces and nephews on Bill’s side. She was preceded in death by husband, Bill Welsby; and son, Patrick A. Welsby.
Memorial services will be held Monday, June 5, 2017, 10:00 a.m. at Highland Park Baptist Church, 2315 North Circle Drive. A reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests to please make donations to Highland Park Baptist Church.
