Wallace Clifford Broadnax, a decorated veteran, dedicated civil servant, and warm, genuine patriarch of a large and loving family, passed away February 2nd, 2026, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
A man of resilience, perseverance and resourcefulness, Wallace AKA “Broadnax” enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 16. His military service spanned 22 years and included two tours in Vietnam. His service eventually brought him to Fort Carson, where he was stationed until he retired from the Army and transitioned to civil service, working at the Pueblo Chemical Depot for 20 years.
Wallace was known for his easygoing nature and lighthearted spirit. He found joy in simple things—exploring town, chatting with friends and family, and the nostalgia of westerns. A true fan of Gunsmoke, Wallace loved watching the classic stories of the Wild West.
Wallace is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marion Elliott Broadnax, his daughter, Sandra Broadnax, and his sister, Beverly Blade. Survived by his brothers, Bob Broadnax and Moses Moncreif.
His legacy is carried on by his children: Elliott Broadnax, Jean Broadnax, Cheryl Wall, Donna Broadnax, Lynn Broadnax, and Wally Broadnax. He was a proud grandfather to 14 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom will remember his smile and the stories he shared with his style of lively candidness and humor.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Wallace’s life on February 27th at 2pm at the Shrine of Remembrance in Colorado Springs, where he will be laid to rest with military honors.
