Yvonne Davis Gordon – October 31, 2025

In Loving Memory of Yvonne Davis Gordon

Yvonne Davis Gordon passed peacefully on October 31, 2025, at the age of 93, surrounded by the love of her family. She leaves behind a legacy of grace, strength, and wisdom cherished by her three children – Robert III (Millie), Tamice Gordon Parnell (Isiah), and Derek (Pamela); and ten adoring grandchildren – Robert IV, Morgan, Whitney, Lindsay, Alexander, Michael, Daniel, William, Taylor and Jonathan.

Born in Richmond, Virginia, Yvonne was the beloved daughter of Alexander and Olivia Davis. She earned her degree in Education from Virginia State College (now Virginia State University) and in 1955 married her college sweetheart, Robert L. Gordon, Jr., a proud U.S. Army officer. Together they spent three remarkable decades traveling the world, living in places such as Taiwan, Germany, New York, Virginia, and Colorado, and building a strong, purposeful family and a life rich with purpose and adventure.

Throughout their travels, Yvonne dedicated herself to teaching elementary students across continents and even established a GED program for active-duty soldiers in Augsburg, Germany. Upon her husband’s retirement, Yvonne made Colorado Springs their forever home, where she continued to nurture her love for learning, art, and family.

With a soul attuned to beauty and a mind ignited by culture, policy, and politics, Yvonne found pure joy in music, poetry, and painting. She built her own stereo systems to savor music at its highest fidelity, and shared her art with others through oil paintings displayed in local galleries. Equally important to her was engaging in meaningful conversations about the world – its politics, its policies, and the deeper lessons woven through life’s experiences.  Her words, pictures, paintings, and writings were infused with thoughtfulness, depth and strength of spirit, leaving behind a rich trove of poetry, letters, and reflections that continue to inspire and comfort those who knew her.

Above all, Yvonne’s greatest masterpiece was her family. Through love, wisdom, and unshakable devotion, she raised children and grandchildren who embody her spirit of independence, compassion, and strength. Her presence was a steady light – one that will continue to guide us all.

Yvonne will be forever loved, deeply missed, and always remembered.
