Alene Helderman, 89, passed away on July 31, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Lawrenceville, Illinois, she spent much of her life in Vincennes, Indiana, before moving to Colorado Springs, Colorado, in 1985, where she continued building a life centered on family, friendship, and faith.
A devoted grandmother, Alene lovingly cared for her grandchildren and found joy in every moment spent with them. She especially loved watching her grandkids play sports and could often be found cheering them on from the sidelines, proudly supporting them in every game and every accomplishment. She was also a proud Denver Broncos fan and enjoyed cheering on her team—win or lose, although she certainly had her opinions about the losses!
Alene had a personality that was impossible to forget. She loved to tease, joke around, and give the children a hard time in the most loving way. She had a playful sense of humor and knew exactly how to make people laugh, often saying whatever was on her mind and leaving everyone wondering whether she was serious or just giving them a hard time. Her quick wit and mischievous spirit brought laughter to countless family gatherings and everyday moments.
Alene enjoyed cooking, sharing meals, and spending peaceful afternoons sitting in the sun and grass with her closest friends. Her Southern Baptist faith shaped her warm and generous spirit, and she never hesitated to offer a helping hand to someone in need.
Alene was a true fighter—strong, resilient, and unwavering in her love for those around her. She was generous with her time, her home, her food, and her heart. She loved deeply, laughed often, and left her mark on everyone lucky enough to know her.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched. Her laughter, her teasing, her strength, and her unwavering love will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. And surely, she’s sitting in heaven, soaking up the sunshine, watching a Broncos game, cheering on her grandkids, and probably giving someone a little bit of trouble.

Ms Alene! What can I say… When she moved to our complex she had 🌼 Daisy she was nice they both were. I didn’t really get to know know her until we both were in the one br building together… She loved being outside she also loved my nephew Chris.❤️ Years passed grandkids got older she would help me with mine on occasion. Thank you! She would join us on our many family cookouts! Then this year I got sick I’m not sure when she did😢😭. She texted me 1 day I didn’t recognize her number but I text back and after we would text almost every day she would tell me have a great day! I would do the same! Good bye Ms Alene you were one SASSY CHICK! I love and miss you more!😘💜
