Allen J. Mattedi, 56, of Divide, Colorado, passed away on December 27, 2021 after a hard-fought battle against COVID-19.

Allen was born on February 14, 1965 to Bruno & Carolyn Mattedi in Elmhurst, IL. After graduating from Andover High School in Andover, MA, he went on to study at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY, graduating with a degree in Computer Science in 1988.

After college, Allen went on to work as the Chief Programmer at Encotech in Schenectady, NY, where he met the love of his life, Linda. Allen and Linda were married in 2003 at a private ceremony in Richfield, UT.

Allen was a proud member of the Colorado National Guard and was a CW4.  He served in the 5th Battalion, 19th Special Forces Group (Airborne). Allen deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in both the Philippines and Afghanistan. He served as the Company Operations Warrant Officer for Bravo Company, 5th Battalion 19th Special Forces Group (Airborne). Allen was recently assigned to HHD/5/19 SFG(A) as an Operations Officer.  Allen had the utmost respect and admiration for and of his peers in the National Guard.

Allen was genuine, kind, and loyal, and was a mentor to many throughout his life. Allen had many thrilling pastimes, including white water rafting, rock climbing, hiking, long drives on his Harley through the mountains, and the many adventures he enjoyed with his fellow Guard members. Allen was a skilled woodworker and loved carving intricate figurines out of wood. He was devoted to the many dogs he owned throughout his life, and they loved him in return. He found great joy in being a grandpa – especially the adventures he had with his grandkids on their visit to Colorado this summer. However, there was nothing he loved more than his wife of 20 years, Linda, and the life they shared together.

Allen is survived by his loving wife, Linda (Falso) Mattedi, and his loyal canine sidekick, Jojen; his children Carly (Andrew) Feldman, Andrea (Christian) Reynolds, and Sean (Lauren) Reynolds; his parents Bruno Mattedi and Carolyn (Zgutowicz) Mattedi; his siblings Lynne (Tom) Regan, Anita (Mark) Kurisko, Rob (April) Mattedi, and Sharon (Todd) Friedlander; his grandchildren James and Jacob Feldman; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Calling hours will be held from 9:00 am to 10:00 am on Thursday, January 6th 2021 at the Shrine of Remembrance in Colorado Springs, CO with a memorial service to immediately follow. An interment of ashes will be held at 3:00 pm the same day at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, CO.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Green Beret Foundation at www.greenberetfoundation.org.

  3. I loved . getting to know Allen when I would go on my morning walks with Linda we talked of our lives with our families. Linda spoke with so much love when talking about Allen I felt like I knew him well. I watched as they built their dream house,. Even before they started building, we would visit their land and they would talk of their plans. I admire them both for how they handled their many hurdles life gave them. Allen never complained and always looking forward to his dreams with Linda. I love you both and I know you will always have Allen watching over you.

  10. With sincere sadness and sympathy to all of Allen’s family and his military teams for the empty place he left in their world. It’s gratifying that he seems to have filled to the brim his (too short) life. I remember him from years ago as a kind, intelligent, interesting young man. May Allen Rest In Peace and may you all find peace in your good memories of him.

  11. When I think of Allen, I think of a creative mind who always had something worthwhile to share. He will be missed here on Earth. But he is now sharing his talents and sense of humor with the angels in Heaven—and looking down on his family and friends forever.
