With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Brian Manuel Martinez, on September 7, 2026. Brian was born September 27, 1946, in Monte Vista, Colorado. Brian grew up in Center, CO and later made his home in Colorado Springs, CO.
Brian attended Palmer High School and proudly dedicated many years of his life to serving his country. He enlisted in the United States Army on July 4, 1964. During his service in Vietnam, Brian was injured on June 16, 1965, when an explosion set by the Viet Cong occurred at the Saigon Airport terminal. For injuries he sustained in the explosion, he was awarded the Purple Heart on September 9, 1965.
Throughout his military career, Brian earned numerous honors and medals, including the Purple Heart, Sharpshooter Rifle Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. He received an honorable discharge on March 31, 1967. Brian later reenlisted on November 25, 1974, serving an additional three years before receiving his second honorable discharge on June 23, 1977.
Outside of his military service, Brian had a deep love for music. He enjoyed playing his guitar and singing some of his most beloved melodies. He also had a special appreciation for western movies and old cars. He enjoyed restoring and painting cars, taking pride in bringing them back to life. He was deeply loved by his family and those who knew him.
Brian was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel B. Martinez Jr. and Elizabeth Martinez, and sisters, Roberta Martinez and Diane Martinez. He is survived by his siblings, Eddie and Barbara Martinez; Dennis and Elaine Martinez; Wanda Butierres; and Jackie and Dino Spice, as well as his longtime Partner, Diane Allison, and several nieces and nephews.
Brian will be remembered for his service to his country, his love of music, his passion for cars, and the memories he created with the people who loved him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will remain in the hearts of his family, friends, and loved ones. Brian did believe in Jesus Christ as his personal savior and will have everlasting life.
