Carter Chavez, 22 years old, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024. He moved to Colorado Springs from Southern California when he was just 3 years old.

Carter was born on May 2, 2001 to Frank Chavez and Marie Ovalle (Ovalle-Sokol) in Orange, California.

Carter loved landscape photography, sharing his photos with all of Colorado. He also was an avid Lego collector and built an enormous Lego city that included amusement parks, beaches, train stations and even a football field. He loved riding the Colorado OHV trails on his ATV and traveling with his mother, stepfather and friends. Carter graduated high school from Falcon High School during the pandemic in 2020. His favorite music was by Twenty One Pilots as well as For King and Country.

Carter is survived by his loving mother Marie, stepfather Eric Sokol, father Frank Chavez, grandmother Marlene and siblings Christopher and Chase.

A memorial service will be held at First Lutheran Church Colorado Springs located at 1515 North Cascade, Colorado Springs, CO 80907 on Friday, May 3, 2024 at 11:00am immediately followed by a reception at Peele House located on church property.

A memorial camping/OHV trip will be planned for summer 2024.

Carter will live on in our many memories through his love of family, photography, Colorado’s nature and his Lego city.
