Cora Lee Alguire – July 10, 2026

December 30, 1962 – July 10, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Cora Lee Alguire, who passed away on July 10, 2026, at the age of 63.

Born in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, to Pam and Bernd DelaCruz, Cora spent her childhood as an Army daughter, proudly following her family as her father served our country. The values of resilience, adaptability, and service remained with her throughout her life.

Cora shared 44 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Hal, who proudly served 26 years in the United States Army. Life in the military brought numerous changes of assignment. At each new location Cora quickly set up a loving home for the family and ensured that Hal and the kids could thrive. Cora and Hal built a life centered on love, faith in one another, and unwavering devotion to their family.

She was a devoted mother to Ashley and Adam, and her greatest joy was being “Grandma” to her four treasured grandchildren: Brody, Marlowe, Leighton and Jordan. It was said that she made the best lunches for her grandkids. Cora delighted in every opportunity to spend time with them, celebrating their accomplishments and filling their lives with love.

After raising two children, Cora answered her calling to become a nurse. She dedicated much of her nursing career to home health care, where her compassion, patience, and gentle spirit brought comfort and dignity to countless patients and their families. Caring for others was more than a profession—it was simply who she was.

Cora loved traveling and made several trips to Europe with Hal during the last 15 years of her life. She loved all kinds of animals and cherished her dogs, the last of which is Willow. She loved plants, especially orchids, and enjoyed feeding and watching birds in the backyard. Over the past few years she enjoyed bowling with a group of ladies at the Air Force Academy, where she built lasting friendships and shared countless laughs.

Those who knew Cora will remember her for her wonderful sense of humor, her quick wit, and the kindness that naturally drew people to her. She had an extraordinary gift for making others feel welcome, valued, and loved. Her generous heart and caring spirit touched everyone she met.

During the final year of her life, Cora faced cancer with remarkable courage and grace. She never complained or asked, “Why me?” Instead, she continued to think first of others, offering love, encouragement, and concern even as she faced her own challenges. Her quiet strength and selflessness were an inspiration to everyone privileged to walk beside her.

Cora is survived by her loving husband, Hal; her daughter Ashley Patz (Scott) and son Adam Alguire (Lindsay); her beloved grandchildren, Leighton and Jordan Alguire and Brody and Marlowe Patz; her parents, Pam and Bernd DelaCruz; and many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

While our hearts are broken by her passing, we are deeply grateful for the years we shared with her. Cora’s legacy is one of compassion, laughter, generosity, and unconditional love. She lived her life caring for others, and she leaves behind a family who will forever strive to honor the example she set. Though she is no longer with us, her love will remain in our hearts always.
