David Joe Kelty
December 29, 1943 – October 14, 2026
David Joe Kelty was a proud United States Navy Seabee veteran, a retired Teamster, a devoted father and grandfather, and, above all, a genuinely good human being.
David was a man who worked hard, stood his ground, spoke his mind, and lived life in his own way. He could be tough and stubborn, but he also had a great sense of humor and a generous heart. He was the kind of man who would share a meal with anyone, never turn his back on someone in need, and give you the shirt off his own back if that’s what you needed. He believed in helping people, and he didn’t need a reason or recognition to do it.
Those who knew David will remember his humor, his toughness, his work ethic, and his willingness to give what he had to help someone else. He may not have always done things the easy way, and he certainly did things his own way, but he had a heart big enough to make room for just about everyone.
David’s greatest legacy is the family he leaves behind and the countless memories shared with those who knew and loved him. The lessons he taught, the laughter he brought, and the generosity he showed will live on through the people whose lives he touched.
David is survived by his two sons, David B. Kelty and Michael J. Kelty; his daughter-in-law, Brenda L. Kelty; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was a veteran who served his country, a working man who earned his living through hard work, and a man who understood that sometimes the simplest acts of kindness mean the most. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have known him.
Rest easy, Dad. Your work here is done. Your memory will live on, your stories will be told, and the love and generosity you showed others will never be forgotten.
A memorial service celebrating David’s life will be held at Radiant Assembly of God, on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at 10:00am located at, 8636 Scarborough Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80920.
