Dominic John Sandoval, known by his friends as “Domer Bomber”, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023.  He was a lifelong Colorado Springs resident.

Dominic was born on April 19, 1987, in Colorado Springs to Eugene Sandoval, Jr. and Traci Lynn (Butler) Sandoval.  He graduated from Cheyenne Mountain High School and attended Ft. Lewis College, Western State University, and Pikes Peak Community College.

One of Dominic’s greatest accomplishments, and the one he was most proud of, was being a Project Manager for Weathercraft Roofing for over a decade. He considered his co-workers his family and felt honored to be working for John Fleming.

From concerts at Red Rocks, to Fiddler’s Green, music was in his soul. He had a great love of the outdoors and could be found almost every Friday morning hiking the Manitou Incline with his dad “Pappa Geno” whom he considered his best friend. His unconditional love for his mother, Traci, and step-mother, Tyra, was evident. They were a constant in his world and their love for him will be never ending.  Dominic loved hiking Colorado 14ers with his brother Joey and stepmom, Tyra. He ran the Triple Crown of Running and several half marathons. He talked his brothers, Jared and Joey, into participating in the Spartan event and LOVED playing street hockey with them all! He was very protective of his sister, Raquell “KK”, and would do anything for her. He was the ultimate older brother, leading his siblings through life and always being there in times of need. His beautiful niece, Kyah “Bug”, shared in his ornery behavior! He wanted to spend time with her as often as he could. Bella, Frankie and Kiva, his furry friends, were his “everything”. They brought him much joy, happiness, and love. They were truly his babies.

Being the LIFE of the party, Dom’s infectious laugh and sense of humor brightened everyone’s day. From his dance moves to his big personality, he was sure to put a smile on everyone’s face.

His friends held a special place in his heart and the loss of Jeremy Martinez (cousin), and Zach Litherland impacted his life tremendously. He never quite found his peace after their deaths.

Dominic was loved by so many, including his many friends, Aunties, Uncles, and cousins. He will always be remembered for his big beautiful blue eyes, his kindness and generosity. His life ended much too soon. He will forever be a part of the fabric of our lives.

He is survived by his parents, Eugene Sandoval, Jr. (Tyra), and Traci Lynn King; siblings: Jared Johnson, Raquell Sandoval, and Joseph Johnson; niece, Kyah Paladino; his grandparents: Frank and Marcela Pacheco, James and Kathy Butler, and Patricia Frey; and his beloved dog, Kiva.  He was preceded in death by grandparents: Norman T and Carol Sims, and Eugenio Sandoval; and his cousin and dear friend, Jeremy Martinez; and his furry companions: Bella and Frankie.

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80910.  A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel.  A reception will follow in the Broadmoor area. Details will be announced at the funeral.

Memorials in Dominic’s name may be made to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (hsppr.org/donate/) or 2 Blondes All Breed Rescue (2babrescue.com).

  7. I am terribly sorry to hear of Dominic’s passing. I met him on the roof of a building that had been messed up by another roofer. He was the only one that told me that he’d try to get my boss his money’s worth out of it. Through that we became friendly and found some common ground. I will miss him!

  8. Much love to the family. Domer was always such a great guy. Loved every time I got to bump into him and chat. And he always played Turkey Day football with us every year! So sorry for the loss. Dom was the best.
