Henrietta Wood, 87 years old, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2024, at 7:50 am in the comfort of her home. She was a resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado for 52 years. She was the widow of John William Wood, a former Veteran of the United States Air Force since January 15, 2016. She is also preceded in death by her son, Emory Wayne Wood; her parents; as well as 6 brothers; and 4 sisters. She has one surviving sibling, Casper Martinez; along with many nieces and nephews.

Henrietta graduated from West High School in Denver, Colorado where she enjoyed playing softball, basketball, and singing in the choir. She enjoyed listening to the music of her day and many of the songs of the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s.

She is survived by her children: Angela Wood Terrebrood of Springfield, Missouri, Daniel Wood, Leon Wood, and Frances Wood, all of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Frances very lovingly, sacrificially, and tirelessly cared for our mother for the last couple of years. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Henrietta is of Mexican descent. Everyone loved her delicious and authentic Mexican food. Many favorites included enchiladas, tacos, menudo, homemade flour tortillas, chicken molé and her melt your face off homemade red chili sauce!

There will be a graveside service held later this summer. In lieu of flowers and gifts, we ask that you donate to the Wounded Warrior Project (https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/) or the National Cancer Society (https://www.cancer.org/).

She will be missed by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. We are thankful that she recently made peace with the Lord before she died and is now resting in the arms of Christ.
