Loving daughter, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, aunt and niece. Irene E. Anaya, age 71, went home to be with the Lord peacefully on November 16, 2023, with her family by her side.

She was born to the union of the late Ignacio and Flora Garcia in La Junta, Colorado. Both parents preceded her in death, and two brothers: Raymond Garcia and Gary Garcia.

Irene retired from King Soopers. She enjoyed cooking with her children, planting colorful flowers, playing bingo, family games, and movie nights. Her most precious times were spent with her grandson, Jacob. Family was the most important to Irene, second to her love for God.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children: Jacquelyn (Roland) Raye, Jerry Duran; grandson, Jacob Duran; brother, Rick (Lorraine) Garcia; sister-in-law, Joni Garcia; nephew, Julio Garcia; niece, Mercedes Garcia; great-nieces and nephews: O‘Mari, Aizlin, Mila, Ziah and Montez; aunts: Inez, Barbara, Mary, Gloria, Bea (Ed); numerous cousins and many friends.

A celebration of Irene‘s life will occur in the summer of 2024. She will always be in our hearts and memories forever on earth and now in Heaven.

Rest in Paradise Our Sweet Irene!

This Obituary Has 3 Condolences

  1. Irene, what can I say about such an amazing woman? To me, you were my sister more so than my niece. We shared so much together in our younger days. From babysitting for one another, to going nightclubbing, to working together in so many different places. We had a lot of laughs and a few disagreements when our children were bickering. All in all, we never lost our love and friendship for one another. That’s because of the bond we shared. Life will never be the same without you here. I know you are happy now and no longer in pain, but the pain lingers for those you left behind. I’m sure you had a marvelous reunion with your parents, siblings as well as your grandparents and the rest of the family who have gone before us. I remember the day they brought you home from the hospital. I ran all the way home from school because I knew there was a baby waiting at home. Your parents lived with us then. You were a sight to behold. A beautiful baby girl that stole my heart. The rest is history, as we became not only great relatives, but also great friends. Some of our best times were when we worked at the Magic Touch as cosmetologists. We shared a lot of laughs as well as a lot of clients. If I couldn’t see them that day, then you’d take care of them and vice-versa. You were the person who made me an Auntie. I love you and miss you, ❤️ may you Rest In Peace. You will forever hold a special place in my heart.

  2. Having lost such a beautiful person is so devastating. You’re in my thoughts and prayers. You and Jerry were so blessed to have such a wonderful mother. She was a very special person and she will be missed. I’m honored to have had her as my cousin she made everyone’s life better with her kind heart.

  3. Jacque my heart is breaking right now. Irene will always be in my heart. You and your family including your grandparents and uncles befriended a poor, lonely, lost little girl when I really needed someone. Bless you Irene and rest peacefully.
