
Irmgard “Jean” Arsenault, 96 years old, passed away on May 18, 2026. She was a resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado for 67 yearsoriginally from Kassel, Germany. She had been retired for the last 35 yearsfollowing a long career as a hospital administrator with Penrose hospital.
Jean was born on August 9, 1929, to Bernhard and Katharina Kind (Dinter) in Niederzwehren, Germany. On October 31, 1957, she married her soulmate Joseph Arsenault in Kassel,Germany.
Jean was a passionate gardener, continually surrounded by beautiful flowers and landscaping. She was also, along with her husband, the quintessential hostess to countless parties and get-togethers among her many friends. She was a lifetime member of the Austrian American Enzian Club, where she had served as Treasurer and Secretary for several years. Jean and Joseph were also avid travelers, journeying together all over the United States, Hawaii and Europe.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph whom she was married to for 55 years; her son-in-law, Larry Joiner; and grandchild, Nicholas Albert Crumb.
Jean was survived by her only child, Christa Joiner; her grandchildren, Katharin Taylor and Tamara Crumb; her great-grandchildren: Joni Spangler, Christopher Crumb (wife, Samantha Stoddard), Kyle Crumb (wife, Morgan Russell), Brandon Crumb (mother, Katharin), Kevin Crumb (wife, Sierra Crumb) and Cheyenne Crumb (father, Nicholas Albert), and Matt Norton (mother, Tamara); and her great-great-grandchildren: Joseph and Michael Watson (mother, Joni), Owen, Wyatt and Molly Crumb (father, Christopher), Ambry and Xavier Crumb (father, Kyle), and Nicholas Hugo and Oliver Crumb (father, Kevin).
A memorial will be held at 2:00pm on June 12, 2026, at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910. Inurnment of Jean and Joseph will be done later at the Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10545 Drennan Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80925.
Her heart was always with her family. As our matriarch and beloved Omi, she will live on in our hearts and memories for the rest of our lives.
