03/14/1967 – 12/27/2021

Ivan Dale Thornton, age 54, passed away on 12/27/2021.  He was a resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado for over 28 years and a resident of La Canada, California before that.  Ivan was a long haul truck driver for 25 + years!

Ivan was born on March 14th, 1967 to Dale Thornton and Linda (Pirnie) Thornton in Glendale, California. On January 18th, 2003 he married Tammy Crane in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Ivan enjoyed shooting, hiking, off-roading in his Jeep, and taking long road trips: even though that was what he did for a living.  He loved driving!  He also loved his dogs… Ivan had an appreciation for dry humor and particularly identified with the movie “A Christmas Story”.  He attended Maranatha High School, and graduated in 1986.  He also attended Nazarene Bible College.

He is survived by his precious wife, Tammy Thornton; their children: Sarah Thomas and Stacy Gosnell and Stacy’s husband Nelson Gosnell Sr. with his grandsons Nelson Jr. and Griffin; his mother Linda Thornton; his father Dale Thornton and Dale’s wife Jacque; his siblings: Scotty and Eric and Eric’s wife Jeannine with his nephew Andrew and niece Natalie.  He also leaves behind his puppies Dexter and Tessa.  He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Mike Griffin and his favorite dog Axle.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, February 12th at Shrine of Remembrance (1730 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910: 719-634-1597).  A reception will be held following the Memorial Service at Vista Grande Baptist Church (5680 Stetson Hills, Co Springs, CO. 80916).

Prayers for the family are welcome.
