James Dudley Hughes, Jr., age 85, passed away on December 9, 2023. He was a resident of Aurora, Colorado for 36 years and was formerly a resident of Long Island, New York. He was a Captain in the United States Air Force, Boeing Engineer and Teacher.

James “Jim” was born on February 28, 1938, to James Hughes and Dorothy (Everts) Hughes in Brooklyn, New York. On July 20, 1961, he married Audrey Marie Illich in Biloxi, Mississippi.

Jim was fond of fishing. He also enjoyed hiking and had an appreciation for numismatics. He was a member of Lutheran Church and attended Smithtown High School and graduated in 1956. He had a Baccalaureate’s Degree in Mathematics Computer Science Option, from Colorado State
University, Fort Collins, Colorado; a master’s degree in psychology, from University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, Colorado; and a master’s degree in computer science, from Central State University, Edmond, Oklahoma. He served in the United States Air Force for 24 years.

He is survived by his loving wife, Marie; his son, James “Jim”; his siblings: Dorothy, May, and John; his grandchildren: Brandi, James, Charles Alejandra; and his great-grandchildren: Emma and Henry.

He was preceded in death by his son, Charles; his brothers: Edward and William.
