James “Jim” McCann – March 9, 2026

James “Jim” McCann passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, at the age of 95. Jim lived a long and full life centered on faith, family, and hard work. He was born on February 6, 1931, in the Village of Adrian, Minnesota, to Leo and Minnie (Tentler) McCann.

On April 28, 1953, Jim married the love of his life, Jane F. Erdman, in Lismore, Minnesota. Together they built a life filled with dedication to each other and to their growing family.

Jim’s career took many paths over the years. Shortly after their marriage, Jim and Jane moved to Denver, Colorado, and later to San Francisco, California, where Jim worked for United Airlines. Eventually the couple returned to Lismore, where they purchased and operated a feed grinding business. Those years reflected Jim’s strong work ethic and his willingness to take on new challenges to provide for his family.

In 1970, Jim and Jane sold the business and moved with their four children to Colorado Springs, Colorado. There they began a successful career in custom home building while also managing a portfolio of rental properties. Through determination and long hours, Jim and Jane built not only homes, but a strong foundation for their family.

Jim was a devoted Catholic and a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church. He enjoyed bowling, snow skiing, and boating, and he appreciated the simple joys of life. More than anything, Jim treasured time spent with his family and took great pride in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Jim is survived by his three daughters: Adele (Mike) Gallagher of Anchorage, Alaska; Terri McCann of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Sherri McCann (Morin) of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Tara (Zach) Volmer, Bryan Gallagher, Kayla (Tyler) Scheer, Grant Morin, and Nathan Morin; and his great-grandchildren: Addisyn and Olivia Volmer; and Kora, Krew, Kace, and Kole Scheer. He is further survived by his sister-in-law, Joyce McCann, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jane F. McCann, who passed away in 2024; his son, Mark, who passed away in 2000; his brothers: Jay, Dale, Vic, Bill, and his twin brother, Jack; and his sister, Margie Kahle.

Jim will be laid to rest at Mt. St. Francis Columbarium. His life will be remembered for his devotion to family, his quiet strength, and the many lives he touched along the way.
