Janet Marie Randall, 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Burial will be at 2 p.m. on September 26, 2026, at Osage Cemetery in Osage, Iowa, followed by a Celebration of Life at Osage American Legion Post 278.
The daughter of Anton “Tony” and Alice Pike, Jan was born on February 28, 1943, in Osage, Iowa, and lived in St. Ansgar, Iowa, until she married the love of her life, Earl Randall, on September 3, 1959, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
Over the years, Jan and her husband owned and operated many businesses, including a janitorial service in Mason City, Iowa; a restaurant in St. Ansgar, Iowa; Twice Used Antique and Furniture store, Randall’s Janitorial Service, and managing apartment rentals in Waterloo, Iowa. Jan added a vibrancy to life wherever she went. She enjoyed the finer things, including a nice glass of wine and a good steak dinner, and she had a sense of pizzazz and style all her own. She loved bowling, baking (including her signature rum cake), traveling, and, most of all, spoiling her grandchildren. She was the Queen of Crummy Rummy, hard-pressed to lose a card game and always ready for some good-natured banter across the table. Jan was loyal, a fierce protector of her family, and loved spending time with those she loved. A honey-do list was always ready for her husband, and she had a talent for creating unique and personal gift baskets for any special occasion.
Jan is survived by her daughter, Tamara Whalen; four grandchildren, Jennifer Biemann, Joshua (Katy) Whalen, Danielle (Tommy) Dolan, Matthew (Katie) Zuke; eight great-grandchildren, Abigail Randall, Jaxson Zuke, Lila Biemann, Malaki Zuke, Brave Dolan, Harlowe Dolan, Lennon Whalen, Rowdy Whalen; her sister, Susan (Gary) Squier; five sisters-in-law, Doris Erickson, Rose Tobin, Beverly Boehmer, Dorothy Randall, Judy Pike; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; her daughter, Teresa Marie Randall; son-in-law, Todd Flannigan; parents, Anton and Alice Pike; brother, Jerald Pike; parents-in-law, Roy and Minnie Randall; three sisters-in-law; and seven brothers-in-law.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests that memorials be made to a charity of choice in her name.
