Joel Leyba, 64, passed away on April 14, 2022, in Denver, Colorado. He was born on March 11, 1958, to Raquel and Marcella (Valencia) Leyba in Leadville, Colorado. Joel was a resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado since 1964 and graduated from Harrison High School and IntelliTec College. On November 18, 1978, in Colorado Springs, Joel married the love of his life, Tammy Manchego.
Joel served with the US Marine Corps and worked as a building engineer at Truman Elementary in School District 2. He enjoyed playing the guitar, writing songs, working on cars, gardening, and walking his dog.
Joel is survived by his loving wife, Tammy (Manchego) Leyba; his son, Elijah Leyba; his daughter, Jessica J. Leyba (Kamalin); his grandchildren from his son: Elijah, Erin, Leanna, Bella, Aurora and Elijah Jr.; and his daughter Rachel’s children: JoLyne and Shania; his mother, Marcella Leyba; his six brothers: Richard Leyba (Evieann), Raquel Leyba, Vincent Leyba (Catherine), John Leyba (Denise), Joshua Leyba (Amanda), and David Leyba (Jennifer); and three sisters: Jamie Parker (Ulysses), Lisa Costello (Richard), and Teresa Leyba. He is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rachel Leyba; and his father, Raquel Leyba.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 am with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Heritage Pentecostal Church, 2950 Monica Drive West, Colorado Springs, CO 80916.
