John A. Larkin – March 6, 2026

John A. Larkin, 86 years, passed away on March 6th, 2026. Formerly a resident of New York, he then moved to Fountain, Colorado.

John was born on November 30th, 1939, in Manhattan, New York to John and Mary (Finnerty) Larkin. He eventually moved from Manhattan to Kingsbridge, where he graduated from Bishop Dubois School. He then went on to become the manager of the Grand Union grocery store. He married Marie Montgomery on his 34th birthday in 1973, she survives.

He had several jobs over his lifetime, working for Ken Reyhon Realtors and the Department of Social Services. John also owned Archway Cookie Franchise until 1977, when he sold his business and moved to Fountain.

John enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery, computers, and most of all, quilting. He often traveled to craft and quilting shows and enjoyed putting together computers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary, and brothers, Mike, Peter, and Billy Larkin. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marie, daughters, Rose-Marie (Daryl) Clouse and Jamie (Todd) Larreau, son, John (Leyla) Larkin, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and numerous extended family members.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 24th, 2026, at 10:00 am at the Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd. Colorado Springs, CO 80910.

    My heart goes out to all who will miss John. He was smarter than most people realized and his kindness was that of a saint. Thinking back, we met in the 1960’s, his will to live and support his loved ones was very great.
