John Favinger, age 94, passed away on December 20, 2023. He was a resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado for 67 years and a former resident of Smith Center, Kansas. John retired from Hewlett Packard as a Machinist and previously worked for Texaco operating his own garage and gas station.

John was born April 28, 1929, to Sylvester and Inez (Kelling) Favinger in Bladen, Nebraska. On October 10, 1948, he married Myrna Dimond in Alton, Kansas.

John was fond of cars and enjoyed working on them. He also enjoyed camping with the Roaming Elks Camper Club and boating with his family. He was a member of the Elks Lodge 309 for 62 years, and at the Eagles Lodge for 60 years. John graduated from Smith County High School in 1948 and attended Pikes Peak Community College in Colorado Springs. He served in the National Guards for 5 years.

He is survived by his children: Sheila (David) Higbee, Richard (Tonya) Favinger, and Connie (Ed) Eggleston; his grandchildren: Sean, Charles and Gary Higbee, Jennifer and Jeremy Cadd, Ed Eggleston, Samantha (Travis) Reynolds; his great-grandchildren: Brittany, Haylee, Kayla, Tyler, Olivia, Victoria, and Brianna (Landon) Packham Lamborn; and his great-great-grandchildren: Dallas Higbee and Emerson Reynolds.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Myrna; parents, Sylvester, and Inez Favinger; and siblings, Leonard, Lloyd, Dean, Jenny, and Wanda.

Celebration of Life will be held January 6, 2024, at Elks Lodge, 3400 North Nevada Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80907. John’s final resting place will be Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 Hancock Expressway, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903.
