With family present, LeRoy passed peacefully at home due to complications from Parkinsons.

LeRoy was the first born to Albert & Mildred Lindsey at Sioux City, Iowa. His siblings: Michael, Harvey & Debbie (Bruce Eels) all precede him in death, along with his parents.

The first memory LeRoy had was of his Dad coming home from serving in World War Il.

At 11 years of age, the family moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where he graduated from Central High School in 1960. Soon after graduating, LeRoyjoined the Coast Guard Reserves. During active service he was a member of the Coast Guard Choir that sang at President Kennedy’s Inauguration. After his discharge, he married Susan Olson, his high school sweetheart. They had three children Stephen, David and Kathleen.

LeRoy’s Father was a Mason; his mother was a Worthy Matron in the Eastern Star. LeRoy was raised to Master Mason in 1966 and became a member of the York Rite. After moving to Colorado, he became a member of Al Kaly Shrine of Southern Colorado. He served as its treasurer for eight years.

In 1979 he married Faye Talsma Christians, whose children Dale and Sara became part of the family.

The family moved to Yukon, OK in 1983 where LeRoy was employed by Nat’l Reserve Insurance Co. as Head Groundskeeper; and sales in horticulture & commercial Greenhouses for various companies. He and Faye were active with the local Pets & People Humane Society and fostered many dogs on their acreage. Their pygmy goat herd was a delight in their lives. Joining the Miller Gang, a reenactment group focused on Oklahoma 1880’s history, allowed them the fun of playing gunslinger & saloon girl at many festivals. They bought a small off-the-beaten-path BBQ country diner by Guthrie, OK. and took pleasure in cooking and meeting the many rodeo cowboys who came in. After selling, bought and ran a BBQ concession trailer, traveling Oklahoma and serving festival attendees throughout the state.

In 2001 he and Faye moved to Florissant, Colorado where he was employed by FerrellGas, Lake George, delivering propane to the mountain homes in the area. He also worked at the Double Eagle Casino in Cripple Creek and Home Depot in Colorado Springs.

After retirement LeRoy enjoyed being a member of the Clowns of Al Kaly as well as gardening, camping, fishing and BBQing.

This Obituary Has One Condolence

  1. LeRoy and Susan were my classmates at Omaha Central High School in Omaha, NE. They were the “Ken and Barbie” of our class. We started at Central in 1956 and graduated in 1960. It was always so nice being with them as their kindness spilled onto those around them. LeRoy was a gentleman and a scholar. We were in A Cappella Choir together, Junior Choir and Opera in which he was the Lead in our junior and senior years. Football, Track, and Road Show kept him busy, but he was never too busy to be friendly and respectful to all who knew him. He signed my yearbook and it will be a lovely remembrance of our friendship. God bless and love him. Nancy
